  • Dyno Plot Question

If you submit a dyno plot do you still claim engine PIPs?

Is there a specific shop that you need to go to for the plot to be valid for CASC?

Yes, we would like to know what you did to your engine. OTOH, it may or may not change your final performance index or PI due to MEG or minimum expected gain. The dyno plot is designed to be the best indicator of engine power to be used in a car's classification and we know that the engine PIP schedule is ambitious at the cumulative high end. OTOH, we also know that dynos can be manipulated to produce a low number easily with heat soak, non ideal tuning etc and therefore we have a minimum expected gain for the first 5 engine PIPs and then 1/4 PIP for every engine PIP thereafter. Therefore a car with, for example, 25 engine PIPs has to pay a minimum of 5 + (1/4 x 25-5) or 9 PIPs or the actual dyno result whichever is the higher result. Fortunately the CCDB does all that calculation for you.

As for where you get your dyno done, it doesn't matter as long as we know the type of dyno. We have adjustment factors for crank HP for different types of dynos

Please note that under no circumstances will we accept a dyno for less than OEM power. The obvious culprit would be the Mazda RX-8 and we have made adjustments in the CCDB to lower that car's base performance index. We have also raised the base HP for a few cars that appear to consistently be under rated by the manufacturer, including the BMW 135 and Honda Civic Type R.
