We had a bit of an accident wile installing our cage and cracked the windshield (outside panel only so thank god its still legal) but I would like to keep it from spreading.

Any suggestions to stop it from running?

    Thanks,
    Dave

It MAY still be legal - it's really up to the PreTech folks . . . . Sorry, no suggestions though

It up to pretech to check if its thought both sides. I my case it is not, therefore it should pass tech.

Depends where the crack is located and how large it is and if it will spread to an 'illegal' location! Hopefully it will pass tech.

Its on the passengers side not in the drivers viewing area and is smaller then other cracked windshields I have seen racing.
But, I was hoping someone could offer a suggestion to stop it from spreading??

I have read the drilling a small hole at the end of the crack and using one of the DIY bullseye kits at the drill point, will stop the crack from spreading. Anyone do this before?

that sounds pretty sketchy. I had a crack grow about 4" on me in 12 hours a couple weeks ago with temp changes. It's since been replaced but when looking into it I saw that many places claim that they can repair cracks up to 10" or so by injecting a resin. It's no substitute for replacement but sounds like it might be what you're after. I'd advise calling a few glass shops before you find yourself with a much larger crack! (Alright that's enough large crack talk)

I have attached a pic of the crack and out lined them in red. The larger crack is 10" or less and the smaller one is 3-4".

Sharon / any other tech guys, from this pic do you think it would have to be replaced?

                      In the escort.

I was hoping to maybe take it out in studs but I need to find some 9" brakes from an 91-93 lx, so I can get 13s over them.

BTW: If anyone has 14" menards mounted on 4 x 100 bolt circle rims could I use them to test fit??

The concept of drilling a small hole should prevent it from getting larger, but I've never heard of anybody attempting it, and I'm not sure where in the rules it states the allowable size of windshield speed holes. BTW, cage looks beauty Dave. How long did the install end up taking you guys?

We dont want to risk not passing tech so new windshield goes in tommorow.
