  • tech Question: Fuel Line Routing Through Cockpit

I've read the CASC rules and it appears that I can route a braided fuel line through the cockpit of my Lotus Elan. Not sure that I want to but I might have to due to space limitations. Am I correct scrutineers/racers?

Re: tech Question: Fuel Line Routing Through Cockpit

From the posted on their website VARAC Rules
11.6 All fuel lines passing through the cockpit, including fuel pressure gauge lines, must be protected by a supplemental cover of metallic material, or must be of braided metal material (e.g. Aeroquip).

Also, I prefer grommets where the fuel lines pass through "bulkheads" to avoid fittings
in the cockpit, but I don't see anything in the CASC or VARAC regulations on this.

Also remember to use Teflon braided fuel line as regular braided line will absorb fuel and deteriorate and eventually leak. You will first notice this with fuel odor in the cabin.

Guys thanks. I am using grommets and thanks for the tip on teflon core braided line.
