    Hey Matt, thanks for the questions.

    Q1: yes you'd be taking the 6 sPIPs

    Q2: the PIP schedule is based on optimization so it assumes you're taking maximum advantage of the modification. The 07 Nismo suspension may not be optimised for the track so that's why there's the discrepancy. By taking the 6 sPIPs you could potentially put on a better track suspension on the car than the Nismo offers, for example. When considering optimization, each PIP should net about 0.2 seconds per 75s lap.

    Q3:The rule book says 'Installation of LSD on a car not originally equiped with an LSD' So it seems that would be a free one for you. (It's also under the allowable mods where it says OE LSD may be modified for free - 4.9.18).

      OK, so regarding question 2. If I don't want to optimize my 6 pips, that is just go with a nismo suspension (ie an intermediate step), can I have the nismo rated and rate my car as a 2007 nismo if it is more beneficial to me?

          Thanks, looks like the rule book has considered considered suspension updating and backdating (4.9.2.7) but limits it to models with the same suspension rating. I assume the Nismo suspension won't rate the same.

          But for argument sake if the Nismo was rated at 75% I should be able to rate my car as a Nismo even though I'm down 6hp on power. Then of course I'll completely confuse things by taking the curb weight option as I lost control on the weekend and took most of the interior out.

            Hey Matt, unfortunately there's no way to let you get around using a different base car than you actually have. To be fair to everyone else that builds their cars with consideration to the rules and also, because the handling indices are based on more than just coilovers (or any other component), they encompass the entire chassis 'package'. For example, we don't know how accurate the Nismo HI would be if you decided you only wanted to use the front coilovers, or just the rear sway bar, etc.

              Not sure I like that answer but I guess I will concentrate on learning how do drive the car in stock form, and improving my skills, before trying too hard to find an advantage.

                That is pretty much the intent of our rules. To keep cars as stock as possible and make the individual drivers understand the significance and potential of any modification that they do to their car.

                  could you add a 1990 Saab 900 SPG to the list?

                  Slant 4, 16 valve, 2.0 turbo 160 hp 201 Lb/ft torque, curb weight aprox 3050 lbs, 5 speed.

                  these same stats would apply to any (16 valve) saab 900 turbo or SPG form 1985 through 1993.

                    Sorry for the delayed response. Can you provide any information on the suspension setup of those cars, how big of tires you can fit on it? Any special performance options that may have been available?

                    Also, could you provide the links that show hp and weight?

                        most of the good info can be found in the Repair manual i have, but the wiki is accurate for this car

                        The suspension setup is Dual control arms at the front, spring acting on the top arm, and shock on the bottom. the rear is a dead axle.

                        The tires fitted from factory vary from year to year (the cars remained basically the same from 1985 to 1993) the early cars had 185, 65 R15, the biggest you can go on factory rims was 205, 50 R15, but you can run 215 and 225 with the correct spacers.

                        brakes are relatively small, single pistons front and rear, with vented disks in the front, and solid ones in the back. however, from 1979-1987 these cars had Front handbrakes, and small rotors because of the big front calipers.

                        the HP numbers i am getting is from the Repair Manual i have for the car, its made by Bently.
                        the WIKI has the same numbers.

                        the book says 165 HP at 5500, and 188 LB/ft torque.

                        19841993 2.0 L (1985 cc) B202 16-valve turbo, 160 hp (120 kW; 160 PS)-175 hp (130 kW; 177 PS) at 5500 rpm and 255 Nm (188 lbft)-273 Nm (201 lbft)

                        Performance options are really few and far between. its a fairly nimble car, the only performance options that were available and made a difference was the RED box APC (electronic, knock detecting boost Controller) the red APC makes 175 HP and 201 LB/ft (the second set of numbers in the HP thing i put above)
                        the only other performance option would be the SPG kit. its a performance package with stiffer, slightly shorter (10 MM) springs and a factory body kit, with a front lip.
                        The only aftermarket mods i can think of would be putting a bigger turbo, larger down pipe, modding the APC to run more boost, chipping the ECU to run richer when on boost, fitting aftermarket EMS's, ect. one of the easiest is the Koni red shocks, which are adjustable (4 settings on the front, 3 on the back) springs are hard to come by, but they are out there.

                              Just clarifying. all saab 900 turbos have an APC, the red box just allows more boost

                                This could also apply to the 99-02 models as the only revision was to the engine:

                                1999+

                                - Fuel system: multi-port sequential fuel injection, distributorless ignition with platinum plugs.

                                They came with 205/75R15's and 215/60R16's from the factory, but have been known to fit as much as a 265/35R18 R-comp with nothing more than slight fender lip massaging and camber adjustments.
                                The suspension is the same configuration as the Subaru Impreza but with long struts and springs than the corresponding Impreza chassis (GC/GF8).

                                If you need any more information I can gladly provide it to make the process easier.
