As John said the tire information is spotty and inaccurate. Having said that, we have officials going around checking tires for contigency programs. If their survey(s) is(are) accurate we could use them for tire manufacturer stats.

    Good analysis Pierre.

The Tire info has some in-accuracies in it. For instance Bruce MacIntyre results show he is on Dupont tires when he really is on Dunlops. Some tire makes are missing (eg. Kevin Morris is on Goodyear Eagle slicks, although the results show him without any tires).

Distribution of Manufacturers in the Time Attack series after 7 events:

    Manuf. / # / Percent
    Honda/Acura / 15 / 17.9%
    Chevrolet / 14 / 16.7%
    Mazda / 14 / 16.7%
    Ford / 8 / 9.5%
    Subaru / 8 / 9.5%
    VW/Audi / 8 / 9.5%
    Nissan / 5 / 6%
    BMW / 4 / 4.8%
    Other / 8 / 9.5%

Honda/Acura holds onto top spot with 15 cars and 2nd place is now shared between Chevrolet and Mazda with 14 cars (Mazda up from 11). Ford and Subaru keep steady while VW/Audi gains 2 cars for a 3-way tie at 8 cars . Nissan jumps to 5 ahead of BMW's 4 with the addition of one NX1600 and one 240SX (570SX?). Others gain 1 Toyota MR2 for a total of 8 cars.

The top 4 models are: 12 Civic variants (incl. CRX and CSX), 9 Corvettes (incl. Z06), 8 Mustangs (incl. GT), and 8 Imprezas (incl. WRX and STi).

Number of Competitor-events by Manufacturer after 7 events:

    Manuf. and # of Competitor-Events
    Honda/Acura 59
    Chevrolet 53
    Mazda 41
    Ford 33
    Subaru 28
    VW/Audi 20
    Nissan 20
    BMW 16
    Other 30

    Notes:
-Manufacturer stats are gleaned from the Overall Results after 7 events
    -Andy shared Todd's Presswood's Corvette in event #2 (+1 Chev-Event, -1 Ford-Event)
-Scott Murfin shared Gary Wood's RX8 in all events (-1 Mazda)
-Greg van Dalen was at Event #4, but doesn't show up in any of the overall results (+1 Ford)
-Sam Mandia was at Event #4, but doesn't show up in any of the overall results (+1 Other)
-Mike and Andrew Van de Peer shared a Civic in all events (-1 Honda)
-Bryan Sperandei and David Ezaki shared a Civic in event #4 (-1 Honda)
-Jonathan Weir and David Ezaki shared a Civic in events #6 & 7 (-1 Honda)
-Frank and Katie Ewald borrowed a Nissan for events #6 & 7 (+1 Nissan)

    Re: Time Attack Manufacturer Stats

Good idea John. I was thinking of event points per make but your approach is simpler and easier to grasp. For this calculation I did not subtract any amounts for shared cars since competitors run in events rather than the cars running by themselves. The number reflects the distribution of car manufacturers by competitor.

Distribution of car manufacturers by competitor after 5 events:

    Honda/Acura 45 (Honda 38, Acura 7)
    Chevrolet 39
    Mazda 25
    Subaru 25
    Ford 24
    VW/Audi 14 (VW 9, Audi 5)
    BMW 14
    Nissan 14
    Other 21 (Lotus 4, Messner 2, Locost 3, Volvo 3, Mitsubishi 4, Radical 4, Formula V1200 1)

To add relevance you could count event days of each make. I have run 4 events and organized one so I have entered 5 times. Some makes may have entered once or twice.

John, there are 14 Honda competitors overall including your S2000. The remaining 13 are Civics and CRX's. With the Van De Peers, and David and Brian sharing 2 of the Honda Civics I subtracted 2 Civics. Add the Acura CSX and you have 11 + 1 = 12 Honda Civics and their variants (since the CSX is an upscale Civic).

S2000 is a Honda, but not a Civic variant.

Last edited by Carguy; 08-07-2011, 06:01 PM. Reason: Added 1 Mustang and deleted 1 Corvette due to Andy Presswood being listed with a Corvette instead of a Mustang.

    Cool break down though!
I'll update the stats when event 3 & 4 results are available.
