    Doesn't seem so:

.9 “Non-premium R-Compound Tires” are eligible for negative PIPs in
accordance with section 5.1A of the PIP schedule. “Non-premium R
Compound Tires” are defined as DOT legal R-compound tires that have a
moulded tread pattern. R-compound tires that have only one or more
circumferential groove are not deemed to have a moulded tread pattern and
    are “Premium R-Compound Tires”.

I would expect that the 100 treadwear is to get aound some rules somewhere. They will be an uber tire

            Re: Maxxis RC-1

I ahve been in contact with the Maxxis people a fair bit over the last few months. The tires are only going to be rolling into the marketplace in a couple of sizes to start with (I think 235x40x17 is okay) and only available on their e-store. The pricing so far is mega (more than Hoosiers), but they are expected to be close in performance. The problem is that the tires really don't have a lot of testing behind them yet and I haven't found any information on setup, durability and testing performance.

My contacts with Maxxis Corporate have told me to wait to mid-summer before some of that information is available. I will keep following up and if I hear anything further I will pass it along. The tires do look really interesting.

                Re: Maxxis RC-1

This tire is clearly an " Uber" or Premium R comp by design. (Whether it is or not by performance waits to be seen).

Charging more than Hoosier will seriously limit their market penetration to say the least!!!

I'm not familiar with RTA, WTAC, SVTA, NSAS, SCCA, etc etc. rules, but maybe these could fall into a 'super street' type 60+ utog rating thing. In that case they are probably the fastest tire for that.

Or not, and we will never hear from them again :P I think my bicycle came with Maxxis tires

they would be pretty good for super street at cscs assuming they are fast...except for the fact that they cost more then hoosiers

Probably cheaper than a Michelin slick in Unlimited though

                        Re: Maxxis RC-1

In Time-Attack, "street" tires have to have treadwear ratings of 140 or more.

Uber tires are generlly defined as having no sipes and only circumferential grooves when delivered from the factory. The only exception I know of is the Hoosier wet tire which is also considered an "Uber" or premium R comp. They also include the Hoosier A6 & R6, BFG R1, Kumho V710, Goodyear GSCS and a few Avon and now Maxxis tires.
