Re: Supp Regs for the Championship Shootout

Kyle; the configuration listed is CCW no-kinks, however I was under the impression that the new DDT could only be run in the CW direction. I was also under the impression that the organizers preferred to use at least one of the kinks to keep speeds down.

      Chuck; two additional questions.

      1) What is the event fee for the Shootout? The event free schedule lists teh Shootout as TBD

      2) What is the grouping for Red, Green, Orange, Blue morning lapping sessions, and what is the run order for the competition runs? I'm assuming competition will be fastest to slowest.

Direction will be CW with one kink at Turn 1.

Lapping groups and competition run order will be determined as soon as we know how many will be attending.

Event Fee, if any, will be determined shortly.

Let me preface this by saying that my car can run on fumes if need be..

So, can someone explain why there is no refuelling allowed? This caused a couple competitors grief last year, and to be honest it doesn't really make any sense. And before anyone says that it would cause delays in the event, refer to supp. Reg #16.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I am still not a fan of the no refuelling rule. I really don't see the point of it...

I would like to see turns 2-3 added as a passing zone. After all, this event will be for the best of the best, no? And all experienced OTA folk? Surely our best can stay off track in a safe area if something goes wrong. CSCS rookies managed it at their first event.

Also sent a request to allow refueling before quarter finals since higher horsepower cars go through more than a litre per hot lap at the DDT. Or maybe refuel every three track sessions? It should be possible to do it as a planned break without too much impact. Fueling issue shouldn't be as bad as last year since there won't be multiple laps of practice in the opposite direction.

Re: Supp Regs for the Championship Shootout

I see that I have 2 16's and 2 17's. Will fix and reload later.

The rule re no refueling was put in to make sure that the grid was continuously in motion and ready to go. Last year too many drivers went to their pit and were not ready to go when the next elimination round was called. As a result we had to grid the cars we had and send them out in an order that I had to make up on the fly. I could have eliminated those that weren't ready to go but decided not to.

Since the rounds are very short, having a full tank at the beginning of the elimination rounds shouldn't be a problem. When we get to the elimination rounds, we can relax the fuel rule as there should be more time available between heats.

What if we were to bring fuel up to the grid, and refuel while the cars are lined up?

Refueling on the grid is a no no unless safety personnel are available.

Re: Supp Regs for the Championship Shootout

Refueling will be allowed during the quarter finals but not before. Supp regs have been adjusted.

As you come off the track during the elimination rounds you must stay on the grid. Those eliminated will be identified and removed from the grid. The remainder will then be in the correct order for the start of the next elimination round.

                          One quick question Chuck:

I know CCBD is currently down and that Arek is on it (thanks again Arek for all you do on this for us). Is there a backup for getting a revised PIP schedule approved if the issue remains unresolved?

John is probably the best one to handle this Barry.

Chuck can you clarify the order of morning practice sessions? The Supp Regs say "Red, Green, Orange, Blue" but the Shootout Info spreadsheet says "Red, Blue, Orange, Green".

Also, while I'm sure it's too late to change, the grouping of practice sessions by class has some significant car speed mismatches; i.e. a certain BMW vs. the Fiero in the same practice session. Yes I know "that's what passing zones are for" but throughout the season practice sessions never had SGT3 and GT2 on track at the same time. Seems odd that there are more groupings (4 vs. typical 2-3) but a greater field spread within the groups.
