  • Introduction to Ice Racing-PMSC Version

The Peterborough Motor Sports Club (PMSC) will hold an information session on Ice Racing, Sunday, November 9th, 2014 at the Chemong Road Canadian Tire store, from 1:00-3:00 pm.
The information session is aimed at both those who currently compete in other forms of motor sports during the warm months and at those who have never raced but would like to try this grassroots, inexpensive form of racing. Visitors can get a close up look at an Ice Race car and find out what’s involved in the sport from PMSC members who are drivers and officials. There will also be video presentations featuring racing action and interviews
Ice Racing involves regular cars that have seen better days but are still safe to drive. The engine displacement is limited to three litres and the only mandatory safety equipment needed is the standard three point seat belts and an approved safety helmet.
Cars run in two major divisions; Rubber To Ice, in which tires are non-studded but are “tractionized” to improve grip. Depending on ice conditions, speeds rarely exceed 60 km/h in Rubber to Ice. In Street Stud Class, speeds can reach 70-80km/h.
The 2015 Magnum Fine Printing Ontario Ice Race Championship Series takes place on a one-kilometre ice track at the Minden Fairgrounds. The Canadian Automobile Sport Clubs-Ontario Region sanctions the series which includes six race weekends from January 24/25 to February/28-March 1st , 2015.
The Peterborough Motor Sports Club will host the race weekend of January 31st / February 1st. PMSC has been involved in ice races for nearly 60 years.
The display will be located at the rear service bay. Look for the PMSC trailer and signs.
