Interesting company that preps Hayabusa engines for use in cars...

Hey, I'm competitive when I drive Chris. It's just that I don't need a trophy to enjoy myself. But I do know that I'm not enjoying myself when I have two or more days of backed up work every time I take a day off to have my car worked on. Or when an engine machining problem takes me away from competition for three years in a row. I just don't have the flexibility or the facility to work on production cars... whereas most open-wheeled, light cars are simple to work on and don't require a hoist to get at half the fiddly bits.

          YMMV there.

I'm aware of Downs and would strongly consider going their route although dry sumps are fairly simple to fit on a 'busa motor.

I'm still looking at the Hayabusa motor angle because they have sequential trannies. I'd really like to move in that direction - a good Jerico is at least $5K and is overkill for a small, light car.

            www.super7cars.com

My search for a used F2000 led me there, but it's outa my ball park dude. It's got the right basis, so I bet the guys there could give you some leads anyways. Hayabusa engine/tranny in a light open(ish) wheel car. I'm still looking for Formula car though.
And I agree with you about your reasoning for going to that formula. After driving the F2000 at the academy, I sold my Camaro. Just can't compete, and it took me three days of watching Whoopie Goldberg movies to get the smile off my face....

Is this what you are looking for ??? unfortunately it is in Scottland

              Hayubusa open wheeler

How about this ... in the SCCA race forums .. a open wheel car with a TL-1000 motor ... http://www.sccaforums.com/cgi-bin/ul...;f=46;t=000172

Have you looked arround www.racecarsdirect.com, or www.sccaforums.com or to see if there is an open wheel that meets your needs, that would be a suitable candidate for a Hayabusa swap using the hayabusa conversion kits that Dave posted ?

Good luck with your search ....

              Cheers

May I suggest looking into the regional class called "Formula 4". Class average is about 800lbs with 110-130 hp. Pretty quick little cars and you can get into the game for under $10,000. I know of a couple that are up for sale. Have ran one with my Dad for 8 years, no better bang for your buck in terms of open wheel racers.

Let me know if you want some more info.
