  • FS: Snap-on cordless impact wrench

    I think it's 9.6V

Comes with charger and carrying case.

    Battery still holds charge well.

I bought it on eBay, used.

Works well but not quite enough torque for breaking lugnuts loose which is what I bought it for.

    $100 obo

I'm pretty sure it is this model. I was wrong on the voltage. It is 9.6V

Personally I wouldn't use an impact for breaking lugs loose or putting them on (unless it's for pitstops, then use air tools). No cordless impact will give you the torque you want to remove them, nor the torque control for putting them on. Impacts don't come up on the torque spec easy enough.

I've worked with professional race teams for over 18 years now and none have ever used an impact without using a breaker bar first for taking lugs off (except for pitstops).

        Just my two cents.
        Cheers,

I understand not wanting to use it for installing the lug nuts, but what would be the problem with removing them with an impact wrench?

I think he's just saying that most of them don't have sufficient power to remove lugnuts.

I think the SPDA boys are using an 18V Dewalt unit successfully but don't quote me on that.

19 volt princess auto removes lugs with no problem, we change about 30 wheels with 1 charge.

only tighten them up a bit with the impact and use a proper torque wrench to tighten them

Re: FS: Snap-on cordless impact wrench

I just bought the 14.4V Canadian Tire "Maximum" cordless impact. It works grrrreeeaaaaatt for removing and then doesn't overtorque them on the way in. I finish off with a torque wrench.

I was already using a Mastercraft cordless drill to save time, but the impact driver trumps it. With the amount of tires I change, It's well worth the $$$.

That's the driver. I have the "wrench".

If i had previosuly used a torque wrench to tighten down the lugs, then this will get it off.

Re: FS: Snap-on cordless impact wrench

We've been using a 24V Makita cordless impact for three seasons now and have had no problems removing any lug nuts even in the middle of winter at -20. one charge will last for a weekends racing with a three car team and an average of three wheel changes per day. On the low setting it will almost torque each lug to spec, then finish off with the proper wrench.
