    Lap times

I was out with Jeff's Miata and Chris' Mustang on June 30th.
I unfortunately bent a swing arm nudging the wall at turn 2 (backwards), which affected my alignment, but I did 2:02.

With only 84rwhp I think I did about 95mph at the top of the straight, the speedo says 110 but with the low profile tyres and speedo error its obviously less.

Should be 1:58 with more laps!

The AFSSC Sentras do 1:47 on average, the better drivers get into the low 1:46's high 1:45's and Robb Smith got down to the 1:44's all in pretty much a stock 1.8L Sentra.

at those temps.... it's hard to compare...

The only tire that got even a BIT warm... on the blowtorch was the left-rear... and it was very warm!!!

NOT because he was swinging it out there and hangin' it loose...

BUT BECAUSE OF THE TURBO EXHAUST TEMPS because the exhaust is on that side!!!!!!

        I'm not sheitting you!
        Built-in tire warmer!!! SERIOUSLY!!!

        Never seen that before!

Mosport times are about risk / reward and size of cajones!
The places where you make up the most time... are the ones that are the most "risky" (corner 2, 6, etc)

In the super cold... it was VERY HARD to push it beyond the "hump" in the 440 HP Audi S4 that I was in... (K04 turbos, etc)

We were in the 220 - 230 km/h range... and at that speed... in the cold... you kind of want to be able to slow the car down for the corner... The owner said that he can NORMALLY brake on the other side of the hump... but not in the <4* temp range!!! So that eats up a bunch of time...

Breaking before the hump is risky, given that the front end gets just a weee bit light over the crest at 220+. But obviously one needs to be able to make the corner. LOL

In better weather on good rubber braking can usually occur halfway between the crest and the turn-in.

the air around the tire was warm. and thats when we were parked.

at 100+ km it doesnt even reach the tire.

well.... car came back. $23 hose was replaced.

apparently i had a boost leak which started off small (dont they all).

anyhow, the bug is feels ALOT more alive up top then ever.

better then buying a 480$ mass air flow.

Best times at Mosport (that I have record of....):

1:37.680 in the dry, late September. AMB transponder (BMW race).

1:58.520 in the wet, again, late September. I think I can drop this time by 7 or 8 seconds yet again in the wet, but it was my first rain race at Mosport.

Pat you forgot to tell them how much HP you have.

Pat, those are some impressive times. I ran a 2:01.893 in the same wet race you ran your 1:58.5 in. It was my first race ever and the first time driving that fast in wet conditions and traffic. I've done lapping and Solo 1 in the rain but the lack of visibility in the faster sections while in traffic surprised me. I know I could shave 6 or 8 seconds with a bit more experience in those conditions.

Yes Sam, all of my 158 rwhp...and 2900 lbs. Ugh. However, the plan is to resolve both of those this year.

I think I've found an extra 100+ rwhp; hopefully we'll have that in place by January.

And I'm still looking to take those extra 200 lbs out of the car; that will be dependent upon the rules that the Touring Car championship comes out with this week.

I *think* I can get my times down to 1:34s on Toyo's at Mosport.
