  • 1985 MERKUR XR4Ti ?

I have a coworker who wants to rid her garage of an old XR4Ti.
She tells me it has not moved in 6 years or so.

It turns out that the reason she stopped driving it was the turn signals started to go, along with the brake lines rusting out.

I have not actually seen this car, but she is tired of hearing empty promises that her husband is going to resurrect the car one day.

She wants to just call a scrap guy to haul it away, but I have visions of reviving it to something like the swoopy trans am versions that Roush built years ago. Pipe dream yes I know.

Is a car like that a worthy candidate to be revived to a regional road racing car? Or a reasonable facsimile thereof.

Or is it better suited to an iceracer?

Or shall it meet it's maker?

    Later, T.

You know the answer! Ice racer! Prep it! Bring it! Race it!

I think it's worth fixing. Don't turn it into an ice racer unless it's too far gone to rebuild for the street.

I've got to agree with Gary. If it hasn't moved in 6 years and things were rusting out then...it's got to be in bad shape. Ice race it.
