I am looking to buy a few sets of kosei k1 in Canada, I checked tirerack but shipping and duties etc. will adds up a lot. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot.
Pete, do you know if Team Dynamics now makes a 16x8 wheel in +28 mm offset, 5x114.3mm PCD?
I looked about a eyar ago and they didn't have anything.
Well, they do have a blank program, meaning that they will often bring in some wheels un-drilled. Unfortunately, they only have 16X7.5s, and they are available only in the higher offsets. They are unlikely to make a 16X8, as well. There is not really enough demand, in their opinion.
On a side note, the 17X9 high offset wheels should be available in North America within 6-8 weeks.
Thanks a lot for the great info guys, I would really love to get Kosei K1s, they do look very clean on civic.
I called tirerack today and they gave me a shipping quote by Fedex and after duty and everything is about 171CAD per wheel. If I do go down to buffalo or whatever to pick those up, do they charge anything when crossing the border? Where is N.F.? Thanks again!!

Just tell them you bought the wheels at a car swap at a civic car show somewhere for 200 bucks USD. Note you are only allowed max of 60 USD for one day trip to USA. If you go for more than 3 days I think that amount goes to something like 400 USD before they tax you. Just don't tell them anything. I stashed a set of used weld racing wheels I gof for 400 USD. I told the border I bought them for 200 USD at car show, (which I did but 400 bucks). He didn't even open the trunk.
Helps to bring Canada Passport and I speak from experience that the border crossing at Sarnia and the one near kingston are the most lax. At rainbow bridge they think everyone is a terrorist.

My only concern with that is IF you do happen to get stopped, and have to go through customs, they CAN impound your car, since the undeclared items were in your car. Your fine for trying to import items would be the re-purchase of your car.I know some people in Canada Customs, and it does happen on occasion. If you do declare them, you can end up paying the GST, if I recall, and the duties.
If you ship them, expect some sort of extra brokerage bill from the courier. UPS is the worst, but all do charge something.
Interresting ... do you know what these will weigh, and a ballpark price?
I would expect in the 17.5-18 lbrange, and probably around $350ish full retail, before a competitor's discount. I would expect it to be under $300 per wheel. 15" ones are less than $190 per wheel.
