Barry, my 1.6 litre engine didn't come near triple digits to the wheel. I was faster through 4 than the back straight, where GPS data indicated 160 - maybe 161 kph - was the best we managed. That was after the crest and not lifting for 8.

My gearing is off in turn 3. If I enter T3 in 3rd I have to shift 3/4 into the turn and my exit gets a bit squirrely. If I enter T3 in 4th I bog at the apex and lose time on exit. Staying in third is my best option, but not by much.

I'm shocked your car is that heavy. That's only 70 pounds lighter then mine

Aye I top out at 140 on the up hill. The other 20 odd is gained in the 'vette braking zone! I'm doing the same between 4 and 5 as I am into 8

Hmm. I know Miatas have pretty crap aerodynamics, but still...

I should probably get it on a dyno. See how many horses have escaped over the years.

              That 163kph is GPS verified.

Great driving this year Kelly! I am sure you will get 99's next year

Where are you braking for turn 8? In the video I posted of my in-car at MIR it looked like you gained around 15+ car lenghts on the back straight so I thought your speed would have been higher considering we are only 8-9km/h apart according to our data.

I take the "plus driver" to mean "including driver". To split up that number, the car weighs in at 2089 lbs with a 3/4 fuel tank so it's the driver that needs to go on a diet. The rear of the car is lightened (stripped) to compensate for the roll bar. I still have a full interior including carpet, door panels, speakers, sunroof and headliner.

The car is always too heavy! We wouldn't be competitive drivers if we didn't carry all those excuses in the trunk of the car.

No, none of my numbers are verified. Frank can confirm that's what my speedo said though. I imagine it might be a bit slower cause after seeing what other similar cars numbers are I thought that was a bit high.

I would think so considering 18lbs/hp Barry's miata is around 17.6lbs/hp and only hitting 163km/h. Looking like speed depends mostly on how fast you go into 8.

I'm leaving some on the table at turn 8 entry for sure, but I really doubt I'd get past 167 no matter how much testicular fortitude I pack on during the off season.

I hope to God you're not really hitting a genuine 180kph. If so, my motor ain't right.
